Our Story

                                      Viorel Pasca in Romania

God brought Elder Orphan Care into existence through a unique set of divinely inspired circumstances.

In America, Kim Jackson was praying for a new adventure.

In Romania, Viorel and Florica Pasca were not!

But when they viewed a newscast reporting that two people, elderly and homeless, had frozen to death on the streets of a nearby city, they took action by welcoming two older women to live in their spare room.

God used several people to bring Kim and the Pascas together in 2011. Elder Orphan Care was birthed with our partnership with Viorel and Florica who were then caring for "only" 64 older adults! Since then the Pascas have rescued nearly 3000 older adults in Romania who would otherwise be homeless and currently care for over 400. Over the years and thanks to our generous donors EOC was able to help fund the construction of two care homes, housing for volunteers and a multipurpose building. But far beyond that our teams built hundreds of treasured relationships with the people in those buildings as we visited each and every individual and shared both presents and our presence with them. EOC partnered with the Pascas for 13 year, through 2024.

In 2017 we felt compelled to "look in our own backyard" and under the direction of Tammy Blackburn, former EOC board member turned staff person, we began caring for older adults in need in our home area of Cabarrus and Rowan counties in North Carolina who wish to age in their own homes. We enjoy partnering with other local senior-serving organizations to provide help and hope in a variety of ways to our older neighbors.

We were introduced to another Romanian national and his wife in 2018 who are caring for older adults in need. Mircea and Dana Badea currently care for over 100 people in humble care homes in Romania.

Thanks to grant funding and our generous donors, in 2021 we hired Janna Syester, an occupational therapist, and former EOC board chair, to oversee our community programs in North Carolina.

Of course there's much more to this story and all our stories! As you visit the different pages within our website you will see, at least in part, what Elder Orphan Care has become over the years since 2011.

God continues to do "exceedingly, abundantly beyond all we ask, hope, or imagine," (Ephesians 3:20) so it's too much to tell here! Be sure to read some of the excerpts from Kim's three devotional books, "Hello, Hope!" HERE or better yet, email info@elderorphancare.com to hear how you can receive her books. If you prefer they are available for purchase on Amazon by searching Hello Hope Kim Jackson

As God continues to write our story we hope to expand our reach to serve more of our world’s rapidly aging population, advocate for their care, and encourage others with what we are learning along the way!
